Running Ventures Events

Running Ventures owns and present four signature events annually: Cinco de Mayo 8K on the first Saturday in May, Independence Races held on the first Saturday in July, the Rice Street Mile held in conjunction with the Rice Street Festival in St. Paul, and the Drumstick Dash 10K, a great Thanksgiving Day tradition. With these events Running Ventures strives to provide a great race experience for everyone, from novice to racer, with professional management, individual chip timing, and lots of fun for all. In addition, Running Ventures works with many other events throughout the year providing race management and timing services. Here also the focus of Running Ventures is on providing quality, professional services to ensure all goes smoothly and each participant is ready to come back next year.

Liz Logelin Foundation - Run, Walk, Hope 5K • June 9, 2012

The Liz Logelin Foundation was established to give hope to widows and widowers with young families. The organization is dedicated to providing support to grief- stricken young families in their time of deepest need. When a parent dies the financial burden can be huge. The LLF awards monetary grants to meet families’ emotional and financial short-term needs. Proceeds from the 5K go to support this mission.

Joe Plant Memorial 5K • June 9, 2012

This event is a special occasion to be inspired every step of the way by Joe's commitment to strength and endurance, his love of life and service to others. Joe was famous for saying he was just "Living the Dream", and achieved his dream of becoming a St. Paul Police Officer shortly before passing away suddenly in January 2008. Joe grew up on the east side of St. Paul, and spent many hours running around Lake Phalen with his good friend Joel, who founded the event in his honor.

Independence Day Races • July 7, 2012

          Signature Event

The 4th Annual Independence Day Races are presented by Running Ventures each year on the first Saturday of July. Held at Lake Harriet, you have the freedom to choose - one lap or two! Fairly flat 5K (one lap) and 10K (two laps) courses provide a great opportunity to put a spark in your running season. Cool down after the race with patriotic popsicles! The event offers a technical short sleeve shirt, Championchip timing, and cash awards to overall winners in the 10K.

Drumstick Dash 10K Minneapolis • November 22, 2012

The 2012 Drumstick Dash 10K is the sixth edition of this great Thanksgiving Day event. The race has grown in participation over the years and is fast becoming a Thanksgiving Day tradition for many. In recognition of the staying power of the race, it now has it's very own website - Drumstick Dash 10K. Race for Your Rights 5K • April

Join in and run or race for your rights! Race is presented by NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota. The Foundation's mission is to support and protect, as a fundamental right and value, a woman's freedom to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices through education, and training. This fun event is held at Como Lake in St. Paul.

Y Run 5K & 10K • April

The Y Run 5K & 10K is presented by the Downtown Minneapolis YMCA. Proceeds from the Y Run will go to support the downtown Minneapolis Y Partners campaign to support the mission of the YMCA - for youth development, for healthy living, and for social responsibility. The Y is a 501 (c) (3) organization and operates day and residence camps, health and fitness programs, youth programs, adult and senior programs, family programs and much more. the race will be in its 3rd year at Lake Calhoun in 2013.

Cinco de Mayo 8K • May 4, 2013

The Cinco de Mayo Race is run on a flat, fast 8K course around Lake Nokomis. Come join Chile Pepper and blow off some steam at this hot tamale event! Get yourself tuned up for the summer race season.

Walk for Talk • May

The Walk for Talk celebration features a 5K race to start the day's events. Race organizer Northern Voices is a center for young children with hearing loss that enables students to communicate through the use of spoken language, and helps families prepare their children to reach their full potential. Come join in the festivities at Long Lake Regional Park.
